Get To Know Me

I have a Master of Divinity in Biblical Counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Communication Studies with a Minor in Psychology and Sociology from Clemson University. I have been a Biblical Counselor for over 17 years—providing both in-person sessions in South Tampa as well as virtual counseling services all over the world. I specialize in a wide variety of counseling issues including but not limited to anxiety, depression, trauma and abuse, conflict resolution, overcoming professional and personal mental blocks, identifying and healing from core wounds as well as a wide variety of family issues including counseling for teens and parents of teens.

Prior to becoming a biblical counselor, I pursued a career in television news for six years where I did both on and off camera work. My passion for counseling began when I personally experienced the saving grace of Jesus Christ and His redemption in my own life at the age of 27. After being blessed by so many Gospel loving Christians who walked with me through my healing, I decided to pursue my MDiv in counseling as a means of sharing the transformative power of Christ with those who are hurting and in need of help.

I’m a Southern gal (born and raised in South Carolina) but have been proud to call the Tampa Bay area my home for many years. In my free time, I love being outdoors (total beach bum), going for runs, good comedy and obsessively cheering for my Clemson Tigers. My husband Nathan and I have three precious kiddos and we are proud members of the South Tampa Fellowship Church family.

Trust Me

I'VE BEEN THROUGH IT TOO

First, let me start by saying what I tell all of my clients—I am a hot mess apart from Christ. But because I am one with Christ, the truth is I am never actually apart from Christ so those hot messes? I can talk about them with hope, knowing that God gets it and will come through in my weakness.

My journey of healing began at the age of 27. I lived a life of stuffing my emotions and playing the part of the “funny” friend. I didn’t open up to anyone out of fear of rejection.  Deep down I didn’t believe anyone would want to be around me if I wasn’t making them laugh. So I struggled privately and put on a happy face for everyone else. This was my MO and I thought it served me well—until it didn’t. It wasn’t until I listened to God and reached out for help that I started to feel real hope. I learned that I had to do a deep dive into my own story to better understand how I had been formed over the years. But I was nervous. I remember balling my hands up into tight little fists when I dared to be vulnerable. And then…the tears came. Lots of tears. Tears that I had needed to cry for years. Tears of anger, hurt and fear. I was terrified that I would never stop crying and I remember someone saying to me, “You’ve got to let your heart catch up. The tears will eventually stop. And then you’ll only cry when you need to.” And she was right. With every step, I grew closer to God and clearer in His purpose for me.  The healing came. The clarity came. The peace came. And through it all, I encountered Jesus in a way I never dreamed possible. Isaiah 1:18 says, “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.” Whether it is a sin struggle, sins committed against us, weaknesses, hurts or hangups, Jesus is calling us to come together and talk it through with Him. So come as you are. Together we will seek Christ for the wisdom and healing you need.
